When you know that you have a Sexually Transmitted Disease, you should notify your last six months former sexual intercourses. Thus they can get a test to prove if they also have a Sexually:

  • Syphilis

    Symptoms: difficult to identify, symptoms similar to flu or even no symptoms. In the first stage (two or three weeks) appear some marks (usually painless). If it is not treated from the beginning, syphilis can cause serious damages to heart, brain, eyes and other internal organs and even death. Syphilis significantly increases the risk of HIV infection.

    Spread: contact with fluids (preseminal fluid, semen, vaginal fluid and blood) such as oral sex or penetration without condom.

    Treatment: It is easily cured with antibiotics (usually penicillin).   • Gonorrhea / Blennorrhagia

    Symptoms: unusual discharge, burning when urinating, white or yellow penis fluid, yellowish/irritating vaginal discharge, anus flow, adbominal or genital inflammation (within 1 and 14 days after sexual intercourse). You may not have symptoms.

    Spread: urethra, rectrum, cervix, anus and throat are infected through oral or/and anal sex or/and vagina and penis without condoms.

    Treatment: antibiotics, but if you do not treat it, you can be steril. It is detected with oral, vaginal, anal and urethral exudate.   • Genital herpes

    It is similar to those herpes that appear in the mouth.

    Symptom: it sometimes appears after infection (even years). It causes painful ulcers, tingling, itching, burning or blistering around the vagina or penis.

    Spread: sexual intercourse without condoms or contact in this area. It can be transferred to the mouth by oral sex. The virus remains throughout life so ulcers can reappear.

    Treatment: antibiotics, pills and specific creams fight and control this virus, but there is no cure. It is diagnosed with tests.   • HIV

    The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infects cells of the immune system and destroys them reducing the body's ability to protect itself.

    Symptoms: do not usually have nor immediately.

    Spread: sexual intercourse without condoms (contact with blood, semen and/or vaginal fluids), from mother to child or by sharing syringes and cutting personal tools.

    Treatment: there is no cure. Medication controls this disease until it is undetectable and cannot be transmitted. If you start to have infections or cancer, you are considered to have Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). It is detected with blood or saliva tests.   • Crab lice

    Crab louse or pubic lice are uncomfortable and little parasites that stick to the skin in order to feed on blood. It stays on body hair, especially pubic hair. Pubic lice are yellow-gray in color and use their tweezers to grab onto strands of hair.

    Symptoms: itching and inflammation of the skin. Pubic lice and its eggs can sometimes be seen, as well as blood spots as the bugs feed on the skin's blood vessels.

    Spread: easy to spread, especially during sex intercourse, but can also be transmitted by sharing clothes, towels or bedding.

    Treatment: you must use special shampoos and to wash towels and bedding. Avoid having sex until treatment is complete. It is diagnosed with an exploration of the area.   • Papilloma (HPV) / Condylomas (Human papillomavirus)

    Genital warts are extremely common and contagious.

    Symptoms: warts located on genitals or anus and discomfort in the genital area. You may have no symptoms. Warts grow and take on a cauliflower-like shape without any medical attention.

    Spread: oral, genital or anal and even skin-to-skin contact.

    Treatment: creams or warts are removed. There is a vaccine that prevents the most dangerous subtypes. Diagnosis by cytological examination and visual exploration.   • Chlamydia / Candidiasis

    It is caused by a fungus called Candida albicans that lives on the skin, mouth, and genital areas. It is generally kept under control, but sometimes this disease grows and produces this disease. Wearing tight clothing or underwear made of synthetic materials (which decrease perspiration), diseases that affect the immune system or use products that irritate the vagina (such as soaps or shampoos) increase the risk of Candidiasis.

    Symptoms: in most of cases there are no symptoms, it can cause burning, inflammation and secretions.

    Spread: the fungus can be spread through of vaginal, anal or oral sex, by the fingers or by sharing sex toys.

    Treatment: creams and/or antibiotics. If it is not treated, body generally fights them naturally. It is diagnosed with oral, vaginal, anal, and urethral exudate.   • A, B and/or C Hepatitis

    Symptoms: you may have no symptoms, sometimes general malaise, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal and joint pain, diarrhea, bright red stools, darker urine, and jaundice (yellowish skin). Hepatitis C can also cause severe tiredness and depression.

    Spread: Hepatitis A by oral contact with areas contaminated of stools. Hepatitis B by contact with blood, semen, vaginal fluids, saliva or from mother to child. Hepatitis C by sexual intercourse without condoms or contact with blood (fisting).

    Treatment: Hepatitis A and B there is no treatment, body eliminates them by itself. There is a vaccine. Hepatitis C has treatment that lasts from 6 to 12 months. Four out of five people develop a chronic infection, which can cause cirrhosis and liver cancer. It is diagnosed with blood tests.   • Trichomoniasis (or Tric)

    Caused by the Protozoan Trichomonas Vaginalis, It is a very common STD.

    Symptoms: perhaps women may have no symptoms, but sometimes may have white or foul-smelling discharge, itching or burning in the vagina, pain when urinating and/or having sexual intercourse and abdominal discomfort (from 3 to 21 days later). Men may have a fluid in the urethra, pain or burning when urinating, or inflammation of the glans or foreskin.

    Spread: vaginal sex and/or sharing sex toys. In women, it infects the cells of the vagina and urethra and in men those of the urethra.

  • Scabies

    It is a skin infection caused by a tiny parasite that nests in the skin and lays eggs. They survive 72 hours away from the skin. They can stay in clothes, bed and towels.

    Symptoms: itching and irritation. Some people do not have symptoms even up to six weeks after contracting the parasite.

    Spread: easily through close or sexual contact. They stay in the genital area, hands, fingers, wrists and elbows, armpits, abdomen, chest, around the nipples in women, feet, ankles and buttocks.

    Treatment: apply a lotion/cream. All nearby people should be treated as well and clothes, sheets and towels should be washed with hot water.
